Position Summary 

Manages the development and production of filling equipment and complex retrofit orders through the lens of the triple constraint (scope, schedule, and cost). The all-inclusive scope encompasses managing the project management processes from receipt of orders through the closing phases (delivery, project review, etc.) with the overall goal of meeting Filamatic’s financial, schedule, and customer satisfaction targets.

Essential Functions

  • Manage projects across the entire commercial project portfolio using processes that align with contemporary project management frameworks (PMBOK).
    1. Scope – Manage project scope in its entirety including the development of project artifacts (project/machine summaries, status reports, change orders, etc.).
    2. Schedule – Develop and actively manage project plans using project management software (MS Project) throughout the project lifecycle with emphasis on critical path activities, and material changes that could adversely impact schedule and cost. Participate in meetings with key stakeholders (Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Assembly, etc.) to ensure alignment of tasks, deliverables, etc. to baseline plans with purpose of resolving issues and gaps. Maintain tactical issue lists – highlighting and escalating items on the critical path when necessary and ensure corrective actions are taken to meet budget and schedule targets.
    3. Cost – Analyze project costs and prepare / publish reports to management (Executive and functional leads) on budgets relative to plan. Highlight the rationale and drivers of variances and resulting actions to remedy same when available.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, sales reps, and internal project teams for machine orders.
    1. Support and participate the Sales team in customer kickoff meetings, introducing key Filamatic stakeholders, project goals, scope, deliverables, and project plan.
    2. Conduct internal project kick-off meetings with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective handoff and transfer of information. This may also require coordination with external OEMs.
    3. Respond to customer and stakeholder requests for all information including information related to decision points. Process and distribute said information to key stakeholders as required.
    4. Provide project status reports to customers and sales reps on a routine basis for purpose of managing the expectations of customers and sales reps.
  • Business Support
    1. Coordinate and manage administrative functions for customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and support others in demonstrating equipment capabilities to ensure machines meet or exceed expectations of customers.
    2. Provide input in terms of attainment of key project milestones to the Sales and Support Finance teams for purpose of forecasting POC revenue estimates (Percent Of Completion), timing of major cash outlays, invoicing, etc.
    3. Capture metrics that measure the Voice Of the Customer (VOC), Voice Of the Business (VOB), and Voice Of the Process (VOP), for Project Summary / Lessons Learned reports and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (ideally Mechanical Engineering).
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in managing projects that encompass the design and production of complex electrical-mechanical machinery.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification. As an alternative, Filamatic will accept a qualified person who is willing to secure said certification within one year of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High mechanical aptitude, sound understanding of engineering principles, machining, assembly, test, and supply chain processes. 
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail that enable timely execution of projects. Most critical is the ability to function and provide leadership in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading teams and working with varied disciplines. Key attributes include superb communication skills (e.g., listening, writing, presentation, negotiating, etc.) and the ability to work with people with varied skillsets and personality types.
  • Strong skills and knowledge of Microsoft Project Server deployed in a SharePoint environment.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting concepts and MRP / ERP principles.

Physical and Psychological Requirements

  • Physical requirements entail the use of office equipment such as computers, phones, etc. Demands include sitting and standing for extended periods of time while working with teams and customers in the production environment.
  • Cognitive conscious skills include the ability to consume and parse information from varied sources into standardized outputs (project plans, issue lists, reports, etc.)
  • Cognitive unconscious skills include critical thinking in terms of assimilating information to mitigate differences in dynamic settings and managing customers’ expectations are paramount.

Environmental Conditions 

  • Moderate noise level.
