The Challenge:

For our company to take advantage of existing and future opportunities, it is essential that we enhance our manufacturing, project management and technical service capabilities. The individual selected to fill the Director of Manufacturing position will be instrumental in helping us to achieve this objective.

High priority goals that need to be addressed are cost reduction, lead time reduction, product standardization and meeting delivery commitments.

Job Responsibilities:

The Director of Manufacturing will be responsible for all operations required to manufacture and service our equipment after the customer’s order has been placed. More specifically, the Director of Manufacturing is responsible for the following departments:

  • Purchasing and Supply Chain Management
  • Machine Shop
  • Final Assembly
  • Service
  • Plant Maintenance

In addition, the Director of Manufacturing will be a member of the Executive Board reporting to the CEO/COO and will play a key role in assisting with the development and execution of the Company’s strategic plan, business plan and annual operating plan.

Job Requirements:    

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or Production Management, or equivalent manufacturing management experience with a manufacturer of complex engineer-to-order, make-to-order, and mixed mode production.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, project management, cost control, quality control, cost accounting, and the use of ERP software applications.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) as certified by Project Management Institute (or equivalent college coursework).
  • Inventory control experience.
  • Experienced In all aspects of the manufacturing environment for “standard” and “custom” (i.e. highly engineered) machine systems. This includes a general understanding of machine shop practices, assembly methods, supply chain management, and facility management.
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of lean manufacturing to drive continuous improvement programs related to all aspects of manufacturing operations.
